Police is following on zero tolerance policy: IG Panjab

12823521_848370578641716_8508172828727443075_oLahore(Tauqeer Khan Utmanzai):There is no room of militancy and sectarianism in the province and Punjab police is following on zero tolerance policy in this regard and also achieving positive results by successfully implementing the National Action Plan in its true letter and spirit.
These views were expressed by the Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while answering to the questions of 62 participants of 104th National Management Course during their visit of Central Police Office, Lahore today. Addl: IGP Training, Capt (R) Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP Operations Punjab, Capt. (R), Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP Special Branch Punjab, Faisal Shahkar, Addl: IGP CTD, Rai Muhammad Tahir, DIG Headquarters, B.A Nasir, DIG Operations, Amir Zulfiqar and AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz were also present on this occasion.
While briefing the delegation regarding the crime situation in Punjab, Addl: IGP Training Capt. (R) Usman Khattak told that only in first two months of 2016 there is prominent decrease in murder cases which reduced by
-06%, sectarian murder -100%, religious cases decreased by -75%, kidnapping for ransom -67%, Robbery including motorcycle snatching and street crime decreased by -18% from January to February 2016.
While answering the questions regarding the implementation of Nation Action Plan, IGP told that during last 18 months Punjab police has conducted 43739 search operations whereas, 1395067 persons were questioned and 7274 cases were registered. Similarly, police also impounded 154490 vehicles of without number plates, unauthorized number plates and tinted glasses during this period.
When asked about the police encounters, IGP said that every encounter was judicially enquired and the officials who were declared guilty were punished and go through a strict departmental action under the judgments of honorable courts. He further told that I.T based policing has been started and projects like 8787 SMS service, Centralized Complaint Handling Center, Digital Beat Books, establishment of Front Desk, computerization of record management of the police stations and Human Resource computerization projects have been very successfully operational.
While answering regarding the banned outfits, IGP told that all these banned organizations are under strict surveillance and they were not allowed to hold any activity in the province. He also told that the Punjab police is utilizing the intelligence sharing with other law enforcing agencies and this was the reason that a successful operation was done by the police in south Punjab to eliminate the criminals and terrorists.
Later, IGP presented a traditional police souvenir to the visiting delegation.
