Opening Ceremony of Korean Language Course for 3 Universities of Balochistan Province

An Opening Ceremony of the Korean Language Course for 3 Universities of Balochistan Province was held on 14 Dec 2022 at International Interchange Development Association (IIDA).

The online ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor of BUET Khuzdar, Pro Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS Quetta, Principal GIT, Gwadar, and faculty members/students of three institutions.

Neun Byeol Academy with sponsorship by IIDA and support from Pakistan Embassy, Korea will start formal online Korean language classes from Jan 2023 through Feb 2024.

A total of 40 students will benefit from this course and will further pursue their higher education and skill development opportunities in Korea

At least 5 killed, 20 injured in powerful blast in Chaman

At least five people were killed and 20 were injured in a blast on Chaman’s Mall Road on Monday, Assistant Commissioner Zakaullah Durrani said.

The wounded have been shifted to the Civil Hospital.

According to police inspector Muhammad Mohsin, unidentified miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device in a motorbike that was parked on the roadside. Durrani said that the explosion targetted a vehicle of the Anti-Narcotics Force.

Window panes of several shops and houses in the vicinity were shattered due to the impact of the explosion.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a statement posted on the PM Office’s Twitter account, condemned the incident and expressed grief for the lives lost.

Chaman is considered a sensitive town in Balochistan as it shares a border with Afghanistan’s volatile Kandahar province. In March this year, at least nine people were injured in an explosion near the Levies Lines of the town. The attack targetted Levies Risaldar Maj Naseebullah, who remained safe.

Balochistan has recently seen an increase in terrorist attacks. Last month at least one person was killed, while seven were injured in an explosion in a bazaar in Turbat that was also caused by an IED planted in a motorbike.

Earlier in May, seven soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were martyred in a bomb blast and an exchange of fire with militants.

Six of the soldiers were martyred in Bolan district when an improvised explosive device went off near the vehicle in which they were travelling. One other was martyred in an exchange of gunfire with militants in Makran district, sources had said.

In April, two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred and two others injured in a bomb blast that took place in Toba Achakzai area of Qila Abdullah, a district bordering Afghanistan.

Strike observed in Quetta to mourn suicide blast victims

QUETTA: A complete strike was observed here on Tuesday in protest against killing of eight innocent people in a suicide blast on Monday.

The strike was called by political parties, including the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awa­mi Party, Awami Nat­ional Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, Pakistan Peoples Party, Balochistan National Party-Mengal and traders’ organisations.

All shops, markets, shopping malls and business establishments remained closed in the city throughout the day to condemn terrorism.

The Quetta city and areas on its outskirts presented a gloomy and deserted look. Traffic also remained thin as majority of the vehicles remained off the road. Most of the banks closed their main shutters, but served customers through small doors.ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER AD

Heavy contingents of police, Balochistan Constabulary and Frontier Corps were deployed in and around the city to deal with any untoward situation.

Political parties thanked people and the business community for keeping their business completely closed throughout the day. They said the peaceful people of Quetta had proved that they are against terrorism and want peace in Balochistan.

FIR registered

Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a first information report (FIR) of the suicide attack.

Police said that the FIR had been registered on a complaint of the Civil Lines SHO against unknown people under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-terrorist Act.

A team of senior police officers was investigating the incident.

The funeral prayer for two policemen and one Levies man, who lost their lives in the suicide blast, was performed at the Police Lines, Quetta. Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt, DIG Quetta Abdul Razzak Cheema and other officials attended the funeral.

One policeman martyred, 4 others injured in explosion at Quetta’s Double Road

QUETTA: At least one policeman was martyred and four others sustained injuries in an explosion in Quetta’s Double Road area on Tuesday evening, The target of the blast was a police mobile, police sources said.

According to police sources, the attack was carried out through an improvised explosive device (IED) that was fitted in a motorcycle near the police van.

News footage showed a blaze erupted at the site of the explosion after the loud blast.

The deceased was identified as a member of the police Rapid Response Force.

Blast in Quetta martyrs one policeman wounds several others

QUETTA: A blast took place on Tuesday at Quetta’s Double Road, taking the life of one policeman and wounding 10 others, according to police.

Police said that the blast happened near a police mobile on the road.

According to rescue sources, the blast caused four vehicles to catch fire, adding that it has been brought under control.

The civil hospital Quetta administration said that all the injured has been shifted to the hospital. The blast caused damage to a rickshaw and five motorcycles as well.

On Sept 26, at least three policemen were injured in a blast in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta.

According to security officials, unknown miscreants attempted to target police patrolling vehicle near Eastern Bypass in the provincial capital of Balochistan that left three security men wounded.
