Global brands shut Middle East stores as conflict causes chaos
In Dubai and other major Middle Eastern shopping hubs, many stores are closed. Others are operating with a skeleton staff. The escalating conflict in the region causes chaos for businesses and travel. Reuters reports.
Chalhoub Group runs 900 stores for brands like Versace, Jimmy Choo, and Sephora across the region. The company said its stores in Bahrain were closed. However, other markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, remained open. In those regions, staff attendance was “voluntary.”
Trump says US ‘not where we want to be’ on highest end weapon stockpiles
President Donald Trump said the United States was “not where we want to be” regarding its stockpiles of high-end weapons. American forces are deploying large quantities of munitions against Iran, AFP reports.
“At the highest end, we have a good supply. However, we are not where we want to be,” he wrote on Truth Social. He added that the US has sufficient “medium and upper medium grade” weapons.
“Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries finest arms!),” he added, referring to the “medium and upper medium grade” weapons.
Five Emirates flights depart from Dubai as restricted operations resume
Five Emirates flights departed Dubai this morning, Flightradar24 says, as the airline resumes restricted operations.
The aircraft — all A380s — were bound for Jeddah, Manchester, Paris, London, and Frankfurt.
