Every year, International Day of Justice is observed on 17th July. The day aims to recognize the strengthening system of international justice and also to promote the rights of the victims of war crimes and genocide. India is responsible for widespread atrocities and egregious human rights violations in IIOJK. Brutalities against Muslims and their ethnic cleansing in IIOJK is practical manifestation of Hindutva policies. Since India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5th August 2019, Indian occupation forces have killed 639 innocent Kashmiris in extra-judicial murders. Indian state machinery had perpetrated sexual violence with full impunity to silence the people of IIOJK and stop them from demanding their legitimate right to self-determination, pledged by the UN Security Council resolutions. Numerous reports of the UN, including the two commissioned by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in 2018 and 2019 have re-confirmed ongoing Indian atrocities against the Kashmiri people. Most ominously, India has been seeking to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory in flagrant violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, international law, and the 4th Geneva Convention. Organization of Kashmir Coalition (OKC) also urged the OIC to help move the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for war crimes and investigate mass and unknown graves in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). It is incumbent upon the international community to rise above geo-political and economic interests and show its commitment to the UN Charter and international law in providing protection to the victims and in holding the perpetrators accountable.
