Taxila, Pakistan — On the invitation of Mr. Zaildar Syed Zaheer Ul Hassan Shah of Zaildar House, Rear Admiral Fred Senavirathne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, paid a visit to the Gandhara Art Village, Taxila. He was accompanied by Mr. Augustin Christy Ruban, Deputy Head of Mission, and Brig. Krishna, Defense Advisor at the Sri Lankan High Commission.
Upon arrival, the distinguished guests were warmly received by Project Director Gandhara Art Village Mr. Javed Khan, Mr. Zaildar Syed Zaheer Ul Hassan Shah, and Mr. Ahsan Raza.
During the visit, Mr. Rafique Butt briefed the delegation on the rich heritage of Gandhara civilization, showcasing Taxila’s traditional stone crafting, sculpture work, and the artistic craftsmanship of local artisans.
The High Commissioner appreciated the remarkable preservation of Gandhara art and emphasized the cultural and historical ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, particularly rooted in their shared Buddhist heritage.
