“Rawalpindi Police Takes Significant Step for Transgenders
The initiation of formal school classes for transgenders has begun in Rawalpindi, with the launch of specialized classes at Liaquat Bagh Islamic Higher Secondary School for Transgenders.
The district administration and education department have extended their support for the inception of transgender schools, marking an effective initiative for transgender education in Pakistan.
In a pioneering move, Rawalpindi Police has established the first transgender school, named the Transgender Protection Center, demonstrating commitment to safeguarding transgender rights.
Transgender individuals are currently acquiring primary education in these formal classes, with 52 enrolled in the initial phase.
The school’s primary objective is to provide transgender individuals with the fundamental right to education, aiming to empower them to become more productive members of society after completing their education.
Education will enhance their understanding of society and religion, contributing to the overall development of their capabilities. Obtaining education will be the first step towards gaining dignified employment opportunities.
Transgender individuals are actively pursuing education in formal classes, and various measures are being taken to ensure their protection and rights.
The Transgender Protection Center has facilitated over 100 transgender individuals with employment and dignified job opportunities.
