Indian government in an unprecedented and hastily planned move has formed an armed force (VDG) on illegal bases, the decision had already drawn a lot of criticism at domestic and international level. Kashmiris are fearful of Indian government’s decision to form VDG’s and arming them with fire arms without any regulations and proper/ regular training.

The latest incident has sent a wave in the region and people believe that such incidents would increase where trigger happy novices would indiscriminately use fire arms against innocent people.

Over 5,000 members of the VDGs, majority of them Hindus have been given rifles and more queuing up to get arms in various districts of Jammu region in the last few days. It is pertinent to mention that the past record of VDC guards (approx. x 28000 strength) also augment the worries of masses, still a huge number of cases (200 FIRs related to the cases of murder, rape, rioting and drugs registered against the VDC guards) are pending.
