BAHAWALPUR: Two special children were allegedly sexually assaulted here on Wednesday in separate incidents in Baghdadul Jadid police precincts.
A 15-year-old student of special education centre located at village 10/BC was sexually assaulted by centre’s bus conductor.
On receipt of information, District Coordination Officer Dr. Ehtasham Anwar Mahar directed EDO (Community Development) (CD) Aftab Ahmed Peerzada and AC Rao Tasleem Akhtar to visit the centre.
According to a press release issued by the EDO office, police have taken the suspect into custody and shifted the boy to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
The release said medical examination had confirmed the boy was raped.
According to DPO’s Public Relations Officer Jam Sajjad, the suspect assaulted the boy in the bus of the centre. According to him, Baghdad police have registered a case against the suspect and arrested him.
In the second case, an 11-year-old mentally challenged boy of Satellite Town was assaulted in a showroom near Himyatian Chowk when he was on his way to school.
Police said on the complaint of the boy’s father, they registered a case against the suspect and arrested him.
SCHEMES COMPLETED: As many as 91 schemes of bricklining of water courses costing about Rs290 million out of total sanctioned 135 projects worth Rs440m have been completed.
Regional Manager (water management) Tahir Masood Sheikh said water users contributed Rs90m to bricklining of courses.
