‘Jordan sees prospects for strategic ties with Pakistan’

TAXILA: The chairman of the Jordan Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lt Gen Mahmoud A. Fraihat, spoke about prospects for enhanced strategic relations during a visit to the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah.

In the visitors’ book, he remarked: “I was pleased to visit this great organisation and looking forward to enhance and to expand the cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan in many aspects.”

Upon arriving at POF, Jordanian defence delegates were received by the POF acting chief Mohammad Afzal. The delegation was informed that POF was Pakistan’s premier defence organisation, which meets Pakistan’s defence requirements and exports its products.

POF has 14 factories and plants, nine subsidiaries and a workforce of more than 26,000. They were told that POF’s industrial base was able to undertake the development and production of almost all kinds of conventional arms.
