ISLAMABAD: The Qatar government distanced itself from a letter written by a prince regarding financing of properties owned by the ruling Sharif family in London.

Responding to the letter which was submitted by the ruling family in the apex court, Qatari ambassador to Pakistan Saqr Bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri told in an interview that his government was not involved in this issue. Let me tell you very clearly. It is an internal issue of Pakistan. The Qatar government is not involved in this, he reiterated.

He said that Panama case is the internal matter of Pakistan as we don’t interfere in internal matter of Pakistan it’s our clear cut policy. Answering a question, he said that ambulances were donated by the government of Qatar for the backward and remote areas of Balochistan and it would further cooperate with provincial government regarding resolution of its health and education related issues adding the government of Qatar is working on social welfare program across the Pakistan.

The diplomatic ties were established with Pakistan for the last fifty years and currently two agreements had signed between Qatar and Pakistan. One agreement was signed in Doha, the capital of Qatar while other was signed in Pakistan, he added and maintained that Qatar had got some 8 Super Mushaq jets from Pakistan.  The relations between two countries were enhancing in agriculture sector.

He further said that President of Pakistan was informed about the plan of Qatri business during his visit to Qatar. Qatar is focusing on energy sector in Pakistan and negotiations are being held on power projects. We are thinking about the power generation through LNG.

The Qatar’s ambassador said that both the countries are enjoying good defense relations and these relations are being further strengthened. He said that Pakistan would get further opportunities to enhance cooperation with Qatar through trade with GCC countries.

Qatar fully favors the resolutions passed by OIC and UNO on Kashmir dispute and we want implementation on these resolutions. Pakistan has always supported Palestine issue. Responding to a question, he said that there were two factions of Afghan Taliban and it is our desire and attempt to bring these two factions on dialogue table and we would do every possible in this regard. The role of Pakistan in this regard is laudable. The world community would have to resolve the issue of terrorism along with other problems, he said.

He added that Gawadar project is important for all the countries of the region and government of Qatar is fully encouraging this project. Talking about the US President Donald Trump, he said that Qatar’s foreign office has already issued a statement in this regard. Islam has no concern with terrorism and our policy in this respect is crystal clear and expected the hope that US government would review its decision adding that letters of Qatar’s prince were not issued on government level.
